2 Day Auckland Sea Kayak Tour
Tour Code: SK005
Two days of sea kayaking allowing you to escape the rat-race and enjoy all that the Hauraki Gulf has to offer.
Kayaking in the Hauraki Gulf, exploring the History of the Islands, camping on Motuihe, hearing Kiwi, seeing native birds and animals, 360 degree views from Rangitoto.
After collection from the Auckland Ferry Building you will take part in a safety briefing before heading out onto the water for the day.
The first part of the trip is on the calm waters of the Tamaki River and through the yachts moored in the river mouth. You will then paddle across the channel to reach Browns Island where you will have lunch and the chance to explore the fascinating history of the area.
In the afternoon you will paddle to Motuihe Island where a nature sanctuary has been established which is home to endangered native birds such as saddleback, kiwi and kakariki. Camping on the Island you will watch the sun set over Auckland City and have amazing views over the other Islands in the Gulf.
Morning brings a chance to explore the Island before helping pack up camp and heading to Rangitoto, the newest of Aucklands Volcanoes. You will head out on a 1 hour walk to the summit, during which you will see an abundance of native trees and flowering plants. The view from the top is one of the finest in the Auckland Area. A hearty lunch will be awaiting on your return, and you can take a refreshing swim in the sea if time permits.
The day finishes with the paddle back to the sheltered waters of the Tamaki River (sometimes assisted by a sail), where you will be transferred back to the city.
